How to check exam fees, rescheduling and cancellation terms

Use the shared exam facts as a dated reference and verify the final charge at booking. Change and cancellation rules depend on the examination and provider; get unclear terms confirmed before acting.

Separate the costs in your budget

Create separate lines for official examination entry, learning access, travel and any accommodation you actually need. Add a contingency for a changed appointment or another attempt without assuming either will be free. The course price shown on CMEPath is not the provider’s examination charge, and an examination payment does not automatically purchase a preparation course.

Use the comparison tool to find the official fee source and its review date. Before payment, record the final total shown by the provider, including any tax or other charge that is actually disclosed. Do not treat an old receipt from another candidate as a current quotation.

Identify which policy applies

Find the examination’s awarding or delivery body and the route through which you booked it. Read both the relevant booking terms and the provider-specific part of the examination policy. Rules presented for Academy-owned examinations and rules presented for partner examinations may differ. The identity of the person or organisation that booked can also matter.

Write down the policy link, review date, planned action and existing appointment reference. This turns a vague question such as “Can I move my exam?” into a precise request that support can answer for the actual booking.

Handle conflicting public information carefully

At the review date, the Financial Academy FAQ and examination-policy page do not describe individual cancellation consistently. The policy page also separates Academy and CISI provisions, and some rescheduling wording needs clarification. This guide therefore does not promise cancellation, a refund, or a universal change deadline.

Ask the booking provider to confirm the terms for your exact examination in writing before giving up an appointment. Include whether you want a new date, withdrawal or a different examination, because these are different requests. Keep the answer and any case reference with your booking documents.

Request a change early and verify the outcome

As soon as a conflict becomes likely, check the current change process rather than waiting until the final day. Ask whether the replacement date is available, what charge applies, whether the material edition changes, and when the request becomes effective. A message asking for a change is not itself confirmation of a new appointment.

If the provider approves a change, review the replacement confirmation for examination code, language, date and delivery details. Update travel arrangements only when you understand their own cancellation terms. Revise the study schedule using the confirmed examination date, and keep both the previous and replacement booking records clearly labelled.

Keep evidence for invoices and reimbursement

Save the official payment record and, where required, obtain the tax invoice through the provider’s stated process. If your employer or another programme may reimburse costs, check eligibility, required documents and submission timing directly with that payer. Do not count a possible reimbursement as money already approved.

For a disputed charge, prepare a brief timeline with the original booking, requested action, provider response and payment reference. Describe the issue factually and use the official support route. This is more useful than sending several duplicate requests or purchasing a second appointment while the first remains unresolved.
